Description:

The FOIC is seeking a dynamic and energetic Graphic Design Intern to work part time during the Spring 2010 semester. Applicant should possess strong graphic design and creative development skills to assist with the redesign of the FOIC's Website. The Graphic Design Intern will be responsible for assisting the FOIC's Information Technology Department as well as the FOIC's Web Committee in producing materials for both web and print. Duties will include, but are not limited to, online research and creating graphics with guidance from designated agency staff, and coming up with original web designs. Projects will vary depending on the specific design goals of the FOIC. Candidates should be junior or senior students studying Graphic Design or a related field. This is an unpaid on and off site position with lots of opportunity to gain a wealth of experience. Regular communication is A MUST. The start date is September 8, 2010 (flexible). The end date is December 10, 2010 (flexible).

Minimum Requirements:

Required Skills and Ability: 1. Ability to redesign and produce the FOIC's website in such a way that will clearly explain, enhance and promote public access to records and meetings in State of Connecticut. 2. Assist with graphic design layout for web pages and designing new FOIC logo. 3. Strong proficiency in graphic design software/tools like Adobe CS3 Software Suite (e.g. Abobe Dreamweaver, and Photoshop CS3 a must, Illustrator, Flash, Acrobat and Indesign a plus!) and MS Office Suite is essential 4. HTML 5. CSS Code 6. Ability to assist in incorporating Web 2.0 dynamic web pages and interactive features, videos, sounds, to enhance user's experience when accessing the FOIC's website. 7. Understanding and incorporating Web Accessibility Standards in design methods. Preferred Special Knowledge:  PHP  SQL  JAVA Related experience from jobs, involvement in on-campus organizations, or other internships is helpful.
