Description:
An IT internship is available each semester, intersession and during the summer with ThinkGlobal Incorporated, a Northampton, MA based publishing, marketing, and e-commerce company. ThinkGlobal Incorporated is located at 3 Olive St. in Northampton, MA. We publish Commercial News USA, a bi-monthly magazine for the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, as well as several business newsletters. The publication is an export promotion magazine for U.S. companies to advertise their products and services to 176 countries around the world. It's the only magazine of its kind with international circulation of 100,000 copies. We can offer practical work experience in a well-supervised, pleasant working environment. Interns will gain hands-on experience with valuable computer skills in a variety of programs. Interns are involved in the day-to-day operations of ThinkGlobal Incorporated as well as the ongoing projects that involve critical thinking, communication and time management skills. Responsibilities would include
Developing Ruby on Rails and PHP web applications in a mixed environment
Creating and updating MySQL databases
Updating the content of existing web sites
Diagnosing and maintaining workstations and servers
Corresponding with customers Required skills
Ability to write standards-compliant XHTML and CSS
Knowledge of at least one major scripting language (PHP, Ruby, Perl, Python, etc)
Comfortable with object-oriented design
Ability to learn new languages on the job
Knowledge of SQL, including joins, views, and triggers
Comfortable in a Linux environment Also a plus
Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and MVC development
Good organizational and multi-tasking skills
Good time management skills

 

Minimum Requirements:
