Company Information:  Multi-faceted business (including real estate, travel, information, recreation, automotive, business coach/consultant, author, marathon runner and speaker) headquartered in western Montana and run by a President/CEO who is an entrepreneur with 20+ years of business experience.

Internship Description:   Objectives: Create, update, manage and maintain our companies’ internship program to build our business and improve our overall productivity while mentoring enthusiastic, organized go-getters and helping them to build their resume while they develop valuable skills from verifiable hands-on work experience.

Areas of Primary Focus:

  • Identify & create internship opportunities & potential projects for our companies’ internship program.
  • Create project schedules, internship descriptions, brochures and marketing packages for schools, email and mailing lists and websites.
  • Make key contacts at schools, maintain relationships, send packages and follow up.
  • Screen and interview applicants, make recommendations for second interviews and selection.
  • Create and execute orientation program, schedule and manage interns. Assist with training.
  • Create a Progress Evaluation process for interns (to be administered as mid points and final evaluations.)

You’ll develop your writing, communication, human resources and management skills by working to create project schedules, internship descriptions and marketing packages for schools, mailing lists and websites. You’ll make connections with key contacts, and you’ll develop your interviewing prowess by participating in the initial screening and interviewing of internship applicants, while you make recommendations for selection.  You’ll develop an orientation process and you’ll be working directly with interns in their orientation, as well as being involved in some of the initial training, scheduling, and managing.

You’ll be able to work virtually from home with daily email check ins and once a week phone meetings so you won’t have to spend time or money on commuting. You’ll be able to attend Training/ Workshops/ Teleclasses/ Events to further enhance your expertise in the Human Resources/Business/Management  arenas.

You’ll get to work alongside the President, honing your professional skills and getting exposure to the inner workings of a growing company. Not only will you have gained vital mentoring and invaluable work experience to position you head and shoulders above your competition in the tight job market, but at the end of your successful internship, you will also have bona fide materials showcasing your talents and experience to use in your portfolio, as well as a reference letter from the President/CEO,  a President who understands first-hand the position of an intern because she was able to successfully complete not one, not two, but three different intern positions throughout the course of her career.

Timeline:  Minimum of 8 hours per week, up to a max of 36 hours per week. Prefer at least 13 to 14 week commitment, but will consider shorter terms.

Compensation: Unpaid internship. Academic credit will be arranged for those requiring it.

Minimum Requirements:

Ideal Candidate: Looking for 1 or 2 IPC interns - local or virtual. For this position, we are seeking enthusiastic, organized, outgoing,  self-directed “manager” who has skills in writing, as well as people skills, communication skills, and general and internet based computer skills (Ex: familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, Google searches, Social Networking Platforms like FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) You don’t need previous experience in the Human Resources or Management field because we will train you, but obviously a general familiarity with basic human resources and people management concepts will be of tremendous benefit in getting you off to a fast start in your new internship position. (Recommended reference:  “Bringing Out the Best in Others” by Thomas K Connellan, Ph.D., and “Coaching for Improved Work Performance” by Ferdinand F Fournies)    Must be available at least 8 hrs/week, and have a reliable computer and internet access. Most Business, Human Resources, Communications, Entrepreneurial and Management Majors will find this job exceptionally rewarding! Please have the ability to follow directions, communicate via email or phone daily, employ excellent phone skills, work independently, either locally or virtually, and stay organized.  Your background, work experience and major are not as important as your demonstrated commitment, enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
