Northeast Utilities' Treasury Department is looking for a student intern to assist with various projects related to Corporate Finance and Credit Analysis during the summer of 2008. Corporate Finance: Corporate Finance responsibilities include assistance with capital market transactions and internal financial reporting. Specifically, there are several significant capital markets transactions anticipated for 2008, and the student would assist in working towards completion of one or more of these transactions while gaining an appreciation for the process of raising capital in the financial markets. Internal financial reporting involves updating several monthly and quarterly reports that the Treasury department produces for use by senior management. The student will need to utilize various internal/external resources to locate company financial information as well as economic and financial data to prepare these various reports. Credit Analysis: Credit analysis responsibilities include conducting support with financial analyses on various counterparties and the assessment of their credit risk, identifying company exposures on projects and contracts, preparing internal reports to communicate risks to management, and assisting in the execution and administration of contracts.

Compensation:

$12.75-$16.25/hr

Minimum Requirements:

A student pursuing an undergraduate degree in finance or a related major who is interested in finance is best suited for this position. A solid understanding of finance and accounting principles is essential. The position also requires strong analytical skills, an ability to communicate effectively, and proficiency in PC applications (Microsoft Word and Excel is essential). Finally, the individual must be able to handle multiple assignments at one time and be able to execute assignments in a timely manner.
