Education Intern
The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) is a non-stock, tax-exempt corporation incorporated in May 2004 and is funded under federal and state sponsored grants to address military and civilian industrial manufacturing needs; promote energy planning and policy initiatives; stimulate innovation; and enhance workforce development issues concerning technology competitiveness.
CCAT education efforts focus on: developing and supporting project-based K-12 STEM programming that engages students, increases participation and achievement in STEM content areas, and promotes training of the emergent 21st century workforce; implementing innovative teacher professional development in emerging science and high technology fields; and partnering with industry, informal science education organizations, and higher education to create strategic linkages that increase the STEM talent pipeline.
Position Title: Education Intern
The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) Education Initiative seeks an intern to:
- Assist in the development of curriculum materials and purchasing of hands-on supplies for K-12 STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) student programs and activities;
- Assist in the preparation of materials for teacher professional development workshops;
- Assist in the coordination of student and teacher programs and activities;
- Work with Education Initiative staff to update and maintain program website(s) and online resources;
- Assist in research projects related to STEM and informal science education;
- Assist in the development of program presentation materials and media;
- Work with Education Initiative staff to categorize and inventory existing program materials;
- Assist with ongoing administrative tasks related to education programs.
Reports to: Director, Education Initiative.
Manage others: No.
Employee type: Hourly.
Travel: Some local travel possible.
Compensation: $14 per hour, up to 10 hours per week.

Job Requirements:
Candidates will be pursuing a BS/BA in a related science and/or science education discipline and/or may be pursuing an advanced degree in the field. Must have excellent computer skills, a strong desire to learn, good communication skills, and an ability to work independently on several projects simultaneously. Preferred candidates will be familiar with web-based instructional environments, and have some experience with both student and teacher learning. Must fulfill ITAR citizenship requirements.
