Description:
The Hartford Business Journal is offering spring and summer internships for students interested in business journalism.
We’re a small staff, so interns will get hands-on, real-world experience in covering business news in Connecticut. Interns will be taught to research and write content for our up-to-the-minute Web site and our weekly print edition; take photos; and copy edit articles from our professional reporters and editors. Along the way, interns will meet and interact with prominent members of New England’s business and political communities.
Minimum Requirements:
The internship is unpaid, but interns will compile a stack of clips to showcase potential employers after graduation. We’re flexible on hours, days and the length of the internship, but candidates need to be willing to commit to 20 hours per week with the paper. Interns also will need a driver license and a car, although the Hartford Business Journal will reimburse for travel, parking and tolls for any business-related work. Candidates should possess excellent writing skills, solid organizational skills, and be motivated to learn.
To apply, send a resume and a one-page letter spelling out your aspirations as a journalist to senior reporter Brad Kane at bkane@HartfordBusiness.com. Any published writing samples are a plus. The Hartford Business Journal address is 15 Lewis St. Suite 200 Hartford, CT 06103. E-mail is preferred.
