Description:
AmeriCorps is a national community service program that gives people an opportunity to apply their skills and ideals towards helping others and meeting critical needs in the community. The Ambassadors of Mentoring is an AmeriCorps Program where members serve in mentoring programs across Massachusetts.
Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) is the statewide umbrella organization solely dedicated to expanding high-quality youth mentoring in Massachusetts. Twenty Ambassadors of Mentoring will complete a year of service in the Mass Mentoring Partnership's AmeriCorps Program. Seventeen of these members will be placed across the state to build the capacity of youth mentoring programs and organizations. One Ambassador will be placed at Mass Mentoring Partnership in Springfield to support the work of the Director of Western Massachusetts Partnerships who will also supervise this position. They will be working on volunteer mentor recruitment and provide leadership on special projects.
Projects include:
? Lead efforts to establish and maintain relationships with mentoring programs and youth serving organizations located in the four counties of Western Mass in partnership with the Director of Western Massachusetts Partnerships.
? Complete collection of evaluation data from all programs, host sites and corps members and maintain on centralized database.
? Manage logistics for Western Mass networking and resource sharing events as well as overall planning for corps work weeks and field projects located in Western Mass.
? Provide leadership to corps members located in Western Mass. on field-wide projects that benefit the mentoring field as a whole.

? Experience with and/or commitment to youth development
? Excellent overall relationship-building and communication skills
? Interest in non profit organizations and their development
? Excellent organization, writing and communication skills
? The ability to work independently and as part of a team
? Proven leadership and project management abilities
? A passion for national and community service
? The desire to work with diverse people, organizations and communities
? Flexibility and a good sense of humor
? US Citizen or Permanent US Resident
