The YWCA of the Hartford Region is a membership organization whose mission is to empower women and girls and eliminate racism.
Description:
The YWCA of the Hartford Region provides advocacy for issues important to women and girls regardless of racial, ethnic or social status. They also provide valued programs and services such as childcare, camp, housing, teen leadership, financial literacy, sexual assault crisis counseling and child abuse prevention to Hartford and 30 surrounding suburban communities. The Sexual Assault Crisis Service Program is one of the programs within the YWCA. Internship opportunities are available within this program. The following services are provided by the Sexual Assault Crisis Service Program. Our Services:
Free and confidential services include:
> Short-Term Individual Counseling for victims and survivors of sexual violence.
> Counseling for family and friends of the victim.
> Accompaniment to hospital, police and court procedures.
> Support groups for rape and incest survivors - women, men and teens.
> Advocacy for victims of sexual violence.
> Psycho-educational groups focusing on sexual violence.
> Information and referrals.
Our services are:
> Provided by state certified sexual assault crisis counselors as defined in CT
General Statue 52-146(k)
> Available for hearing impaired individuals
> Provided by diverse staff and volunteers
