About Us:

WGBY maintains an operation and broadcast schedule distinct from WGBH-TV and has its own community advisory board (the WGBY Board of Tribunes). The Trustees of the WGBH Educational Foundation have legal and financial accountability for WGBY.

WGBY went on the air on September 26, 1971. Between WGBH and WGBY, our television broadcasts reach approximately 98% of the Massachusetts population and approximately 65% of the population of New England, with minimal overlap between stations.

The call letters "WGBH" refer to the location of the original radio transmitter on Great Blue Hill. The call letters "WGBY" stand for Great Blue Yonder.

The mission of WGBY, a community-supported public broadcasting organization, is to connect the people of our region with ideas, events and each other to fulfill their aspirations, enrich their lives and improve their communities.

WGBY welcomes the opportunity to partner with community groups to take more in-depth looks at regional issues. WGBY brings a variety of media and outreach services to each subject, fostering local conversations and presenting engaging activities around national issues and broadcasts.

WGBY TV, an equal opportunity employer, is dedicated to providing broad outreach regarding job vacancies at the station. We seek the help of local organizations in referring qualified applicants to our station.
