About Us:
The Republican is the largest daily and only Sunday newspaper in Western Massachusetts. Founded by Samuel Bowles in 1824, The Republican is the source that generations of families have relied on to bring home the news that matters most to them.
The newspaper connects people in local communities through news coverage as well as advertising.
The Republican has a long history of community involvement and has been a catalyst for change in the cities and towns it covers.
The Republican has won numerous awards, including first place awards from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association in 2005, 2006, and 2007 for its efforts on behalf of the public's right to know.
The Republican is printed on a state-of-the art, seven-story, high-speed color press, which is visible through a glass façade at the newspaper's 1860 Main Street location in downtown Springfield.
As part of its commitment to local news and the communities it serves, The Republican publishes seven Plus Papers, hometown weekly newspapers covering cities and towns in Hampden county and northern Connecticut on Wednesdays.
