About Us:
Too many children and adolescents in America face financial, geographical and cultural barriers to health care. Health centers placed within schools, or school-based health centers (SBHCs), provide primary health care, social and mental health services for at-risk or underserved youths who would otherwise not have access to health care. By increasing a student's time in class and lessening health care disparities school-based health centers break down barriers that interfere with a child's learning. The Massachusetts Coalition for School-Based Health Centers, a state chapter of the National Assembly on School-Based Health Care, is a organization designed to advocate for, unify, strengthen the independent network of 49 school-based health centers throughout Massachusetts for the purpose of improving and sustaining access to quality services for underserved and at-risk children and adolescents.
