About Us:
Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford (LVGH) is recognized as the largest private provider of adult literacy programs in the Greater Hartford area. We are known for our cutting edge, student-centered, technology-enriched curriculum that successfully meets the needs of very low literate adults.
LVGH provides small-group instruction in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Basic Literacy to low literate adults living and working in the Greater Hartford region. The ESOL program teaches English to non-native English speakers and focuses on the development of oral and listening skills, with students also working on writing and reading skills. The Basic Literacy program serves English speaking adults who have not mastered reading and writing skills.
