About Us:

Founded in 1996, the Western Massachusetts Economic Development Council (EDC) successfully brings together the three-county, Western Massachusetts region's public and private leadership with one voice to create a positive environment for responsible economic growth. Centralized coordination, effective collaboration, and comprehensive professional services are its unifying foundation.

The EDC is proud of the way its affiliate organizations and legislative contingent work together to drive tourism, spur economic growth, provide commercial and industrial real estate opportunities and achieve passage of key government-assisted projects. The EDC is affiliated with eight independent economic and business development organizations to provide a broad array of services to businesses and municipalities.

The Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield (ACCGS) with its nearly 2,000 members assists businesses and promotes economic development, civic, educational and recreational activities. With affiliate Chambers in Agawam, East Longmeadow/Longmeadow, Hampden/Wilbraham, Ludlow, Springfield, West Springfield, and Westfield and a Women's Partnership dedicated to professional women, the ACCGS brings a regional and diverse approach to the value of networking, economic development and business development for industries of all sizes and types.

The Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau (GSCVB) promote Massachusetts' Pioneer Valley as a year-round destination for conventions, group tour and leisure travel. The GSCVB, a member-based organization, is the lead destination marketing organization (DMO) for the Pioneer Valley's wealth of tourism-related businesses.

The mission of the Regional Technology Corporation (RTC) is to be the market-driven catalyst for growth and development of technology based industries in Western Massachusetts and the Knowledge Corridor. In affiliation with the EDC, the RTC serves to coordinate and manage the region's technology economic development strategy as it relates to business development, attraction and creation.

The Springfield Business Development Corporation (SBDC) is a non-profit economic development organization promoting economic development and quality of life enhancements in the City of Springfield, including downtown. SBDC created two affiliate corporations, Springfield Performing Arts Development Corporation (SPADC), which manages CityStage and Symphony Hall and offers live theatre and popular and classical music year round; and the Springfield Improvement District (BID), which provides maintenance, beautification, visitor services and entertainment in downtown Springfield.

The Springfield Business Improvement District (SBID) is the focal point of regional commerce for social, cultural, governmental, business and residential activity in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts. A physical symbol of Springfield's self image and quality of life, SBID operates maintenance, beautification, event and marketing activities under the four major headings of Clean It Up, Spruce It Up, Liven It Up and Sell It.

The Westmass Area Development Corporation (Westmass) is a regional, not-for-profit land development organization created to encourage and assist business growth in Western Massachusetts through the creation of industrial real estate opportunities/business parks, marketing, and technical assistance. Westmass is one of the largest commercial real estate property development companies in the Northeast (including Boston area real estate), with a consistent inventory of hundreds of acres of fully permitted, available commercial and industrial real estate. Western Massachusetts is a great alternative to Boston area real estate.
