About Us:
Clean Water Action is a national not-for-profit organization that works to educate, empower and activate citizens to better protect the environment and public health. Clean Water Action is looking to train passionate and motivated interns who are considering a future in areas such as public policy, environmental advocacy, public relations, public health, or law.
Through our work to solve problems such as the loophole which allowed CT's "Sooty Six" power plants to pollute at higher levels than modern plants, or working to bring about a healthier and safer future by supporting clean energy, our emphasis is on developing citizen leaders. Since 1998 CWA played a key role in passing laws to reduce the neurotoxin mercury in products, limit mercury emissions from coal power plants, commit Connecticut to global warming pollution reductions, reduce diesel exhaust from school buses and ban lead in children's products. CWA has worked with citizens to pass town resolutions supporting 20% clean electricity by the year 2010, with over 85 towns making the commitment.
